Description

Bamboo formed the skeleton, paper the flesh; colorful ink outlined lively figures. Strings tested the movement. Behind white cloth, a single lamp glowed. Emperors and generals appeared before the stage, acting out streets, markets, seas, and rivers, all held within a small paper world.
