She searches and searches, falling into yesterday's footprints amidst the morning mist, nearly colliding with the shadow of a tree guarded by the Big Dark Wolf. She thinks it's holding its breath in the dark; it thinks she's whispering in the rustle. Shh! Don't panic! Beware the guardian's shadow; do not wake the sleeping roots of the trees.
