The steady pounding of the mortar echoed like a lullaby beneath the old moon. Looking up to rest, she saw the bright moon, clear as ever, as if her daughter's gaze traveled from afar, gently falling upon the two ends of the road. One bore the suffering of the people, the other bore the healer's longing for home.
